Here's the idea with kudzu and anagrelide. Anagrelide already lowers your platelet count and can mildly affect how platelets clump together, so it leans your body a little toward easier bleeding. Kudzu's isoflavones (like puerarin) are thought to have their own mild antiplatelet effect. Put the two together and, in theory, that bleeding tendency could add up.

I want to be honest about how solid this is: it's a theoretical concern based on how kudzu behaves in the lab, not on real reports in people. Still, with anagrelide, it's worth watching for easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that take longer to stop. Before adding kudzu, please run it by your doctor or pharmacist so they can keep an eye on your counts.

What Is Anagrelide Used For?

Brand name: Agrylin

Anagrelide — sold as Agrylin and as generic anagrelide capsules — is used to treat thrombocythemia secondary to myeloproliferative neoplasms. That means it's prescribed when a bone marrow disorder causes the body to produce too many platelets, raising the risk of dangerous blood clots.

By bringing platelet counts down to a safer range, anagrelide also helps reduce related symptoms, including bleeding and clotting events (thrombo-hemorrhagic events).
