Avibactam Sodium, Ceftazidime brand name: Avycaz.
We found no known interaction between L-cysteine and Avibactam Sodium, Ceftazidime in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first.
L-cysteine and Avibactam Sodium, Ceftazidime
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Avibactam Sodium, Ceftazidime and L-cysteine in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Avibactam Sodium, Ceftazidime
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Avibactam Sodium, Ceftazidime is filed under 4 classifications — including organic anion transporter 3 (oat3) substrates, organic anion transporter 1 (oat1) substrates, antibiotic drugs. L-cysteine has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being antidiabetes drugs (moderate) — and none of Avibactam Sodium, Ceftazidime’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

L-cysteine in Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
When used orally in amounts found in foods. There is insufficient reliable information available about the safety of amounts greater than those found in foods; avoid use. Some research suggests that taking L-cysteine during lactation increases levels of free L-cysteine in breastmilk. However, these levels are lower than those found in some commercial hydrolyzed protein infant formulas.

About L-cysteine
What is L-cysteine?
- Antioxidant support
- Skin and hair health
- Liver support
- Respiratory and mucus thinning
- General protein/amino acid supplementation
L-cysteine is a sulfur-containing amino acid your body uses to make proteins and the antioxidant glutathione. Most people get enough from food, and supplements are usually well tolerated, but strong evidence supporting specific health benefits from extra L-cysteine is limited. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before starting it, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a health condition.
Amino acid (not a plant part) · Capsules, tablets, powder; also available as N-acetylcysteine (NAC)
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether L-cysteine is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our L-cysteine record says about it on its own.
L-cysteine: dosing
There is no official standardized dose of L-cysteine established for general supplement use. Products vary widely in strength, and much of the dosing research actually involves NAC rather than plain L-cysteine.The safest approach is to follow the directions on the product label and not exceed the recommended amount. Higher doses have not been well studied and may increase the risk of side effects.

About Ceftazidime and Avibactam Injection
What Is Ceftazidime and Avibactam Injection Used For?
Brand name: Avycaz
Avycaz (ceftazidime and avibactam) is used to treat three types of serious bacterial infections in adults and children at least 31 weeks gestational age: complicated intra-abdominal infections (cIAI), complicated urinary tract infections (cUTI) including pyelonephritis (a kidney infection), and hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia or ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia (HABP/VABP). All three of these infections must be caused by specific susceptible gram-negative bacteria for Avycaz to be effective.
When treating complicated intra-abdominal infections, Avycaz must be used together with metronidazole, another antibiotic. Avycaz is only meant for infections proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria that it can actually fight — using it otherwise can lead to antibiotic resistance.
