Dapsone falls under ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS — the group Lactobacillus Jensenii interacts with.

Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus jensenii with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. jensenii.
Lactobacillus jensenii preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. jensenii preparations by at least two hours.

Here's the thing to keep in mind: this interaction runs in one direction, and it's the probiotic that loses out, not your Dapsone. Dapsone is an antibiotic, so if you swallow it at the same time as a Lactobacillus jensenii supplement (which contains live bacteria), the Dapsone can simply kill off some of those probiotic organisms before they ever get to do their job. So you'd be paying for a supplement that may not work as well.

Your Dapsone itself stays just as effective, and this won't change its usual effects or side effects. This is a theoretical concern based on how antibiotics behave, not something proven in studies. A simple fix is spacing them apart by at least two hours. Check with your pharmacist if you want to be sure.

About Dapsone

What Is Dapsone Used For?

Brand names: Dapsone, Avlosulfon, Aczone

Dapsone tablets are used to treat dermatitis herpetiformis (a chronic, intensely itchy blistering skin condition) and leprosy (all forms, except where proven resistance to dapsone exists). For leprosy, dapsone tablets are typically used in combination with other anti-leprosy medicines.

Aczone Gel (dapsone gel, 7.5%) and dapsone gel are indicated for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris in patients 9 years of age and older. This topical form is applied to the skin and is not used for leprosy or dermatitis herpetiformis.
