Here's the thing to keep in mind with thalidomide (Thalomid). This is more of a theoretical concern than something we've actually seen play out in people. Larch arabinogalactan is a fiber that may give your immune system a gentle nudge, while part of how thalidomide works (especially for swelling and nerve symptoms in leprosy) is by calming certain immune signals. So on paper, stirring the immune pot with the supplement could work against what the medication is trying to do.

To be clear, this is a maybe, based on how each works rather than real-world reports. Still, with a drug as serious as thalidomide, I'd play it safe and run it by your oncologist, prescriber, or pharmacist before adding the supplement rather than guessing.

About Thalidomide

What Is Thalidomide Used For?

Brand name: Thalomid

Thalomid (thalidomide capsules) is approved for two uses. First, it is used in combination with dexamethasone to treat newly diagnosed multiple myeloma — a cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow.

Second, Thalomid is used on its own to treat the skin symptoms of moderate to severe erythema nodosum leprosum (ENL), a painful inflammatory reaction that can occur in people with leprosy. It can also be used as ongoing maintenance therapy to prevent ENL from coming back. Note: Thalomid is not approved as the sole treatment for ENL when moderate to severe nerve inflammation (neuritis) is also present.
