Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Morphine Sulfate
Morphine Sulfate falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Lavender interacts with.
Laboratory research suggests that lavender has sedative effects. However, clinical studies in patients taking oral lavender oil (Silexan) 160 mg for 10 weeks or taking lavender flower powder 1 gram daily for 2 months have not reported side effects of drowsiness, sedation, or sleepiness. There is still some concern that higher doses or different preparations of lavender might have additive effects with CNS depressant medications.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Morphine is a strong opioid that calms your nervous system to dull pain, but it can also slow your breathing and make you sleepy. Lavender, especially as a concentrated oral oil, may add a mild calming effect of its own. So the worry here is simple: stacking a relaxing herb on top of a sedating pain medicine could leave you drowsier, foggier, or more lightheaded than morphine alone.
Honestly, this concern is mostly theoretical. It comes from lab work, and human studies of oral lavender haven't actually shown much sedation. Everyday amounts like a little aromatherapy or tea are unlikely to be a problem. Still, since morphine already affects breathing and alertness, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a daily lavender supplement.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Morphine Sulfate page
“With morphine sulfate (MS Contin, Kadian, Avinza), an opioid powerful enough to slow breathing on its own, this list warrants genuine respect. Of the 172 supplements and foods on file, 8 carry a major rating, and most of those pile extra sedation onto a drug that already sedates.”

About Lavender
What is Lavender?
- Anxiety and stress
- Sleep problems
- Relaxation and calming
- Minor skin conditions
- Aromatherapy
Lavender is a fragrant herb most popular for promoting relaxation, easing anxiety, and supporting sleep, with some encouraging evidence for a standardized oral lavender oil product for anxiety. While generally well tolerated, the essential oil should never be swallowed unless made for that purpose, and pregnant or breastfeeding people should use caution and talk to a healthcare provider first.
About Morphine
What Is Morphine Used For?
Brand names: MS Contin, Kadian, Avinza, Morphabond, Arymo ER
Morphine is used for pain that is severe enough to need an opioid and that other treatments cannot control well. It is meant for people who have not done well on, or cannot tolerate, other options.
Some uses depend on the product. Morphine sulfate tablets treat acute pain in adults and in children weighing at least 50 kg, and chronic pain in adults. Morphine oral solution (2 mg/mL and 4 mg/mL) treats acute and chronic pain in adults and acute pain in children 2 years and older. The 20 mg/mL oral solution is only for opioid-tolerant adults. Extended-release capsules and tablets, including MS Contin, are for severe, persistent pain that needs daily, long-term opioid treatment. Duramorph and preservative-free morphine injection can be given by vein, or into the epidural or intrathecal space (around the spinal cord). Infumorph and Mitigo are only for continuous epidural or intrathecal infusion for intractable chronic pain.
