Here's the gist for your migraine medicine. Your body partly relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear almotriptan out of your system. Lab and animal studies suggest lemongrass — and its lemony compound citral — may slow that enzyme down. If that happened in people, almotriptan could linger a bit longer than usual, which might nudge up its typical effects like tightness or pressure in the chest, dizziness, drowsiness, tingling, or nausea.

I'll be honest: this is theoretical, based only on test-tube and animal work, not real human cases. A cup of lemongrass tea or some in your cooking is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated supplements or the essential oil are where I'd be more cautious. Just check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them.

About Almotriptan

What Is Almotriptan Used For?

Brand names: Axert, Almogran

Almotriptan tablets are used to treat migraine headache attacks — with or without aura — as they happen. They are not for preventing migraines before they start.

In adults, almotriptan tablets treat acute migraine attacks. In adolescents ages 12 to 17, almotriptan tablets treat acute migraine headache pain in those who typically have attacks lasting 4 hours or more when untreated. Note that in adolescents, the effect on migraine-related symptoms such as nausea and light sensitivity was not established in clinical trials. Almotriptan is not indicated for cluster headache or for hemiplegic or basilar migraine.
