Here's the thinking on this one. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear fedratinib (Inrebic) out of your system. Lab and animal studies suggest lemongrass, and its main compound citral, may slow that enzyme down. If that slowing happened in people, fedratinib could build up a bit higher than expected, which in theory could mean more side effects like nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, or changes in your blood counts and liver tests.

I want to be honest about the strength here: this is only theoretical, based on test-tube and animal work, not human studies. The lemongrass you'd use in cooking or as an occasional tea is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated capsules or the essential oil are a different story. Since fedratinib is a serious cancer medicine, please run any lemongrass supplement past your oncology team or pharmacist first.

What Is Fedratinib Used For?

Brand name: Inrebic

Inrebic (fedratinib) is approved to treat adult patients with intermediate-2 or high-risk myelofibrosis (MF) — a type of bone marrow cancer that disrupts normal blood cell production. This includes primary myelofibrosis as well as secondary myelofibrosis that developed after polycythemia vera or essential thrombocythemia.

It is used both in patients who have not been treated before and in those who have previously been treated with ruxolitinib, another myelofibrosis medication.
