Adalimumab-Adbm falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Mace interacts with.

Animal research suggests that mace lignans can suppress immune function. Theoretically, concomitant use might enhance the effects of immunosuppressant drugs. Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), and other corticosteroids (glucocorticoids).

Here's the short version for Cyltezo (a biosimilar version of Humira). It's an injected biologic that calms an overactive immune system to help with conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and Crohn's disease. By design, it already turns down part of your immune response. The concern with mace is that, in animal studies only, certain compounds in it (lignans) seemed to suppress immune activity too.

So the worry is theoretical: piling mace on top of Cyltezo might add to that immune-dampening effect, which could mean a slightly higher chance of catching infections. This is not proven in people, and normal cooking amounts of mace are very unlikely to matter. Concentrated mace supplements are a different story, so check with your pharmacist or doctor before using them.

What is Mace?

Mace is the lacy red covering of the nutmeg seed and comes from the same tree as nutmeg. It is mostly used as a cooking spice and in traditional medicine for digestion, but there is little solid human research to support its health uses. In normal food amounts it is generally safe, but large doses can be toxic, so use it as a spice and check with your pharmacist before taking concentrated supplements.
