Here's the gist with marshmallow root and your Talwin Compound (aspirin plus pentazocine). Marshmallow is loaded with mucilage, a slippery fiber that swells into a gel in your stomach. The thinking is that this gel could form a coating that slows or partly blocks how well a swallowed pill is absorbed. If that happened, you might get a little less pain relief than expected from a dose.

I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on how the fiber behaves, not something proven in real patients. The simple fix is timing. Take your medication first, then wait about 30 to 60 minutes before your marshmallow. If you notice your pain isn't controlled the way it usually is, check in with your pharmacist or doctor.

Theoretically, marshmallow flower might have antiplatelet effects.
Animal research suggests that marshmallow flower extract has antiplatelet effects. However, the root and leaf of marshmallow, not the flower, are the plant parts most commonly found in dietary supplements. Theoretically, use of marshmallow flower with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs can have additive effects, and might increase the risk for bleeding in some patients.

Here's the short version: your Talwin Compound contains aspirin, which already thins the blood a little by keeping platelets from clumping. The concern on file is that marshmallow flower might add a small antiplatelet nudge on top of that, in theory bumping up your bleeding risk. But this is very weak, theoretical information. It comes from animal studies on the flower, while supplements almost always use marshmallow root or leaf instead.

Realistically, gentle short-term use of marshmallow root for a cough or sore throat is unlikely to cause trouble with your aspirin. Still, watch for easy bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach upset, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you bleed easily.
