Aspirin, Pentazocine falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Danshen interacts with.

Theoretically, danshen may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Danshen has been reported to have antithrombotic effects. Animal research also suggests that taking a danshen combination formula with clopidogrel exhibits a synergistic increase in antiplatelet aggregation and prolongation of coagulation time when compared with either taken alone.

Here's the thing with Talwin Compound: it contains aspirin, which thins your blood by keeping platelets from sticking together. Danshen seems to do something similar, gently lowering your blood's ability to clot. When you stack two blood-thinning effects on top of each other, they can add up, and you may bruise more easily, notice nosebleeds or bleeding gums, or in rare cases have more serious internal bleeding.

I'll be honest with you, this concern comes mostly from animal studies and a few case reports, not large human trials, so it's more of a careful caution than a proven danger. Still, because aspirin already affects clotting, I wouldn't combine these on your own. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Theoretically, danshen may increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that danshen tincture and various constituents of danshen inhibit the activity of CYP1A2. However, this activity has not been shown in humans when theophylline, a CYP1A2 substrate, was used as a target drug.

Talwin Compound combines aspirin with pentazocine, a pain reliever. The concern on file is that Danshen might slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which helps break down certain medicines. If that enzyme works more slowly, a drug it handles could build up a bit and hit you harder than expected. With pentazocine, that could mean more drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, or feeling unsteady.

Here's the reassuring part: this is mostly theoretical. It comes from lab and animal studies, and when researchers tested it in real people using another CYP1A2 drug, they didn't see this effect. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since both can affect alertness, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Theoretically, danshen may increase the levels of aspirin and the risk of bleeding.
Research in healthy adult males shows that taking a combination of danshen and kudzu with aspirin increases plasma aspirin area under the curve by approximately 3.4-fold. Animal research also shows that taking a combination of danshen and kudzu (danshen-gegen formula) with aspirin increases maximal blood levels of aspirin and salicylic acid by approximately 4-fold and 3.7-fold, respectively, without impacting blood loss. Taking danshen increases the antiplatelet activity of aspirin and might increase the side effects of aspirin.

Talwin Compound contains aspirin, and that is the piece that matters most here. Danshen seems to do two things to aspirin: it can push aspirin levels in your blood higher, and it adds its own mild blood-thinning effect on top. One small human study (using danshen combined with kudzu) saw aspirin exposure jump around 3 to 4 fold. So you are stacking a blood thinner on a blood thinner.

In real life that means a higher chance of bleeding-type problems: easy bruising, nosebleeds, stomach upset or ulcers, dark stools, or bleeding that is slow to stop. The food-grade idea doesn't really apply here, since danshen is taken as a concentrated supplement. Please don't change anything on your own. Just run this combo past your pharmacist or doctor first.
