Here's the gist with Inqovi (decitabine and cedazuridine), which you take by mouth for myelodysplastic syndrome or CMML. The slippery mucilage gel in marshmallow could, in theory, coat your stomach and gut and make your body absorb a bit less of an oral pill swallowed around the same time. For a cancer therapy like this one, getting the full dose absorbed really matters, so anything that nudges absorption down is worth respecting.

To be honest, this is a theoretical concern based on how mucilage behaves, not real cases with this drug, so don't panic. A simple fix is to space them out: take your Inqovi first, then wait at least 30 to 60 minutes before any marshmallow. Since this is a serious medicine on a strict schedule, please run any supplement past your oncology pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Decitabine and Cedazuridine Used For?

Brand name: Inqovi

Inqovi is used to treat adult patients with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) — a group of blood cancers where bone marrow doesn't make enough healthy blood cells — and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML). It covers several subtypes of MDS, including refractory anemia, refractory anemia with ringed sideroblasts, refractory anemia with excess blasts, and both previously treated and newly diagnosed disease.

Inqovi is also approved in combination with venetoclax for the treatment of newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in adults who are 75 years of age or older, or in adults of any age whose other health conditions make intensive chemotherapy unsafe.
