First, the most important thing: European mandrake is genuinely poisonous, and I'd urge you not to take it in any form. Setting that aside, here's the theory behind why it could matter with your Inqovi (decitabine and cedazuridine). Mandrake's tropane alkaloids slow down how fast things move through your gut. When your stomach and intestines empty more slowly, an oral pill like this can sit longer and potentially get absorbed a bit more than expected.

With this particular medicine, more in your system could mean stronger effects on your bone marrow, things like lower blood counts, more fatigue, easier bruising or bleeding, and higher infection risk. To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based on how these chemicals behave, not something proven in studies. Still, please don't pair them, and check with your oncology team or pharmacist first.

About Decitabine and Cedazuridine

What Is Decitabine and Cedazuridine Used For?

Brand name: Inqovi

Inqovi is used to treat adult patients with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) — a group of blood cancers where bone marrow doesn't make enough healthy blood cells — and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML). It covers several subtypes of MDS, including refractory anemia, refractory anemia with ringed sideroblasts, refractory anemia with excess blasts, and both previously treated and newly diagnosed disease.

Inqovi is also approved in combination with venetoclax for the treatment of newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in adults who are 75 years of age or older, or in adults of any age whose other health conditions make intensive chemotherapy unsafe.
