First, a big safety note: European mandrake is genuinely toxic, and I would never recommend taking it in any form. So this is really a 'why you should avoid it' explanation more than a 'how to combine it' one.

The idea on file is that mandrake's atropine-like compounds slow down your gut. If you happen to be using an oral nicotine product, like the Nicorette gum or lozenges that get swallowed, slower gut movement could theoretically let a bit more nicotine soak in. That might mean more nausea, hiccups, a racing heart, dizziness, or jitteriness. This is only a pharmacology-based guess, not something proven in people. Patches and inhalers bypass the gut anyway. Please talk with your pharmacist before mixing anything with mandrake.
