First things first: European mandrake is genuinely toxic, and I would never recommend taking it. But here's the specific concern with Triazolam (Halcion). Mandrake's tropane alkaloids slow down your gut. When your digestion slows, a pill like triazolam can sit longer and get absorbed more completely, which theoretically means more of it reaches your bloodstream.

For a sleep medicine like triazolam, that could mean a stronger than expected effect: deeper drowsiness, grogginess, dizziness, confusion, or trouble waking up. To be fair, this interaction is theoretical and based on how these chemicals behave, not on solid human studies. Still, please don't use mandrake, and talk with your pharmacist or doctor before combining anything with triazolam.

What Is Triazolam Used For?

Brand names: Halcion, Triazo, Apo-Triazo, Gen-Triazolam, Mylan-Triazolam, Novo-Triolam, Nu-Triazo

Triazolam tablets are approved for the short-term treatment of insomnia in adults. Treatment is generally intended for 7 to 10 days. Halcion (a brand of triazolam) is specifically indicated for this same short-term use in adults.

Using triazolam for more than 2 to 3 weeks requires a full re-evaluation by your doctor to rule out an underlying medical or psychiatric condition driving the sleep problem.
