European Mandrake + Ciprofloxacin
Ciprofloxacin brand names: Cipro, Ciprobay, Cipro XR, Ciloxan, Cipro IV, and others.
European Mandrake has a moderate interaction with Ciprofloxacin. Theoretically, concurrent use might increase absorption of some drugs because of inhibited gastrointestinal (GI) motility caused by European mandrake.

ORAL DRUGS
Why this applies to Ciprofloxacin
Ciprofloxacin falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group European Mandrake interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
First things first: European mandrake is genuinely toxic, and I'd never recommend taking it. So the bigger concern here is the plant itself, not just how it mixes with your antibiotic. With that said, let's talk about the interaction on file.
Mandrake's compounds (atropine and similar) slow down how fast your gut moves. The idea is that when food and pills sit in your gut longer, your body may absorb a bit more ciprofloxacin. Cipro isn't a prodrug, so more absorbed simply means a stronger dose effect, which could mean more nausea, stomach upset, dizziness, or other side effects. I'll be honest though, this is theoretical, based on pharmacology rather than real patient reports. Please don't use mandrake, and check with your pharmacist or doctor.

This page covers European Mandrake only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Ciprofloxacin page lists 163 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Apple (major), Asarabacca (major), Beer (major) and Grapefruit (major).
By severity: 8 major · 133 moderate · 22 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ciprofloxacin page
“A glass of apple or grapefruit juice can sharply cut how much ciprofloxacin (Cipro) your body absorbs, because these juices block a transporter the antibiotic needs to reach the bloodstream. That is one of eight major-rated risks among the 163 supplement and herbal ingredients on file, and I treat this list as a genuine warning rather…”

European mandrake is a highly toxic plant from the nightshade family that was used in ancient and medieval times as a sedative and pain reliever.
