These agents include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the thing to know about pairing mesoglycan with selumetinib (Koselugo). This interaction is grouped under blood thinners because mesoglycan can have a mild effect on clotting. Selumetinib itself isn't a true anticoagulant, but it can sometimes cause bleeding-related side effects, like nosebleeds, easy bruising, or bleeding gums. So the worry is that stacking the two might add to that bleeding tendency.

The good news is that this concern is mostly theoretical. Human studies actually suggest mesoglycan helps break down clots without strongly thinning the blood, so the real-world risk looks low. Still, since your child is on a serious medication, I'd run mesoglycan by your oncology team or pharmacist before adding it, and watch for any unusual bruising or bleeding.

Mesoglycan is a blend of natural sugar-protein compounds (glycosaminoglycans, including heparan sulfate and dermatan sulfate) taken from animal tissue and used mainly for blood vessel and circulation problems. Some small studies suggest possible benefit for vein-related conditions, but the overall evidence is limited and not strong. What Is Selumetinib Used For?

Brand name: Koselugo

Koselugo (selumetinib) is approved for adults and children 1 year of age and older who have neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) — a genetic condition that causes tumors to grow on nerve tissue — when they also have symptomatic, inoperable plexiform neurofibromas (large, deep nerve tumors that cannot be surgically removed and are causing problems).

Both the Koselugo capsule and Koselugo oral granule formulations are approved for this use. The oral granule form is intended for patients who have difficulty swallowing whole capsules.
