Nadolol falls under BETA-BLOCKERS — the group Octacosanol interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of octacosanol with beta-blockers might result in additive hypotensive effects.
Octacosanol is the main component of policosanol. Clinical research shows that policosanol 5 mg daily can have additive blood pressure-lowering effects in patients with hypertension who are taking beta-blockers. Also, animal research shows that policosanol can increase the hypotensive effects of propranolol. It is not clear if these effects occur with the use of octacosanol.

Here's the simple version: Nadolol already lowers your blood pressure and slows your heart rate, and octacosanol (the main piece of policosanol) may push those numbers down a little further. Stacked together, the worry is that your blood pressure could drop more than you want.

What might that feel like? Things like dizziness, lightheadedness when you stand up, unusual tiredness, or a heartbeat that feels slower than normal. The strongest research is actually on policosanol, not octacosanol by itself, so for plain octacosanol this is more of a possible, theoretical add-on effect than a sure thing. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if your pressure already runs low.

What Is Nadolol Used For?

Brand names: Corgard, Nadolol

Nadolol tablets are used for two main conditions: high blood pressure (hypertension) and angina pectoris (ongoing chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart). Lowering high blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack.

For high blood pressure, nadolol may be prescribed on its own or combined with other blood pressure medications, especially thiazide-type diuretics (water pills). For angina, it is used for long-term management to help reduce how often chest pain occurs.
