Oregano + Glucagon
Glucagon brand names: Glucagon, Baqsimi.
Oregano has a moderate interaction with Glucagon. Theoretically, oregano might increase the risk for hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Glucagon
Glucagon falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Oregano interacts with.
In vitro and animal research shows that oregano extracts might lower blood glucose levels.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's a little wrinkle worth understanding. The interaction we have on file says oregano might lower blood sugar, which is usually a concern when you're taking medicines that also push blood sugar down. But glucagon does the opposite job. It's your rescue medicine, the one you reach for when blood sugar drops dangerously low, and it works by telling your liver to dump its stored sugar back into your blood.
So if anything, a blood-sugar-lowering herb like oregano could make it a touch harder to bring your sugar up, though this idea comes only from lab and animal studies, not from people. Cooking with oregano is completely fine. If you use concentrated oregano oil regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they have the full picture.

“If you keep glucagon (Baqsimi) on hand to rescue a severe low blood sugar, read this list with genuine care. Of the 256 supplements and herbs on file, 239 affect blood sugar control, most by lowering glucose further, which can set up the very crash glucagon exists to reverse.”

About Oregano
What is Oregano?
- Digestive upset
- Respiratory and cold symptoms
- Antimicrobial support
- Intestinal parasites
- Skin and fungal concerns
Oregano is a common Mediterranean cooking herb that is also sold as a concentrated oil or supplement, often standardized for a compound called carvacrol. While lab studies suggest it may have antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, strong human evidence for treating any specific health condition is limited. Used as a food, oregano is very safe; concentrated oregano oil supplements should be used cautiously and discussed with your pharmacist or doctor.

Glucagon Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Glucagon as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Oregano — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
