Ibrutinib falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Pau D'arco interacts with.

Theoretically, pau d'arco might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro research shows that pau d'arco reduces platelet aggregation and may interfere with vitamin K. One clinical study shows that taking the lapachol constituent of pau d'arco in doses above 1.5 grams daily increases the risk of bleeding. The effects of whole pau d'arco or pau d'arco extract in humans are unclear.

Here's the thing to know about ibrutinib (Imbruvica): on its own, it already raises your bleeding risk because it affects how your platelets stick together. That's a well-known part of how this medication works. So the concern here is overlap, not a brand-new problem.

Pau d'arco may also nudge platelets in the same direction and could interfere with vitamin K, at least in lab studies. Stacking the two could mean more bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or longer bleeding from small cuts. To be fair, the human evidence is theoretical and was mostly seen with high doses of one isolated compound, not whole pau d'arco. Still, with a serious cancer drug like this, I'd play it safe and run it by your oncologist or pharmacist before combining them.

What Is Ibrutinib Used For?

Brand name: Imbruvica

Imbruvica (ibrutinib) is approved for adult patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) / small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL), including those with a specific genetic change called 17p deletion, and for adult patients with Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM), a rare type of blood cancer.

Imbruvica is also approved for chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) — a complication that can occur after a stem cell transplant — in adults and children aged 1 year and older whose condition did not respond to at least one prior treatment.
