Minocycline falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Pau D'arco interacts with.

Theoretically, pau d'arco might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro research shows that pau d'arco reduces platelet aggregation and may interfere with vitamin K. One clinical study shows that taking the lapachol constituent of pau d'arco in doses above 1.5 grams daily increases the risk of bleeding. The effects of whole pau d'arco or pau d'arco extract in humans are unclear.

Here's something worth knowing about pairing pau d'arco with minocycline. The concern on file is really about bleeding risk, since pau d'arco may slow down how your platelets clump together and could interfere with vitamin K, which your body needs to form clots. Honestly, this is mostly theoretical and comes from lab work, plus one study where very high doses of the lapachol component (over 1.5 grams a day) raised bleeding risk.

Minocycline itself isn't a blood thinner, but it can mildly affect clotting and may enhance the effect of warfarin if you take that. So if you're on a true blood thinner alongside minocycline, pau d'arco could nudge things further. Watch for easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that won't stop, and check with your pharmacist before combining them.

What Is Minocycline Used For?

Brand names: Vectrin, Dynacin, Minocin, Minocin IV, Solodyn, Acnamino MR, Minocin MR, Sebomin MR, Aknemin, Arestin Miscrosperes, Amzeeq, Zilxi

Oral and intravenous minocycline products treat many serious bacterial infections, including Rocky Mountain spotted fever, respiratory tract infections, sexually transmitted infections such as lymphogranuloma venereum and nongonococcal urethritis, plague, cholera, brucellosis, tularemia, and others caused by susceptible organisms. MINOCIN Intravenous is used when oral therapy is not adequate or tolerated.

Extended-release oral minocycline tablets are indicated specifically for inflammatory lesions of moderate to severe acne vulgaris in patients 12 years and older — not for treating infections. AMZEEQ (topical foam) treats inflammatory lesions of moderate to severe acne vulgaris in patients 9 years and older. ZILXI (topical foam) and EMROSI (oral capsule) are indicated for inflammatory lesions of rosacea in adults. ARESTIN (oral powder placed by a dental professional) is used alongside scaling and root planing to reduce pocket depth in adult periodontitis.
