Hydrocodone Bitartrate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Peony interacts with.

Theoretically, use of peony may increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that peony suppresses the metabolism of clozapine via weak-to-moderate inhibitory effects on CYP1A2 and CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with peony and your hydrocodone. Your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break down hydrocodone. In test tube studies, peony seems to mildly slow that enzyme down. If that happened in real life, hydrocodone could linger a bit longer and feel stronger, which might mean more drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, nausea, or in a worst case slowed breathing.

The important thing to know is that this is only a theoretical concern based on lab work, not something seen in actual people, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, because hydrocodone is a strong opioid where extra effect matters, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them. Please don't change your dose on your own.
