Resveratrol + Haloperidol
Haloperidol brand name: Haldol.
Haloperidol falls into 2 drug categories that Resveratrol can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Resveratrol interacts with whole categories of medication. Haloperidol falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Resveratrol in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Haloperidol
Haloperidol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Resveratrol interacts with.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version: your body uses an enzyme called CYP1A2 to help clear haloperidol. In test tube studies, resveratrol can slow that enzyme down. If that were to happen in real life, haloperidol could clear more slowly and build up a bit, which might nudge up its usual effects and side effects, things like drowsiness, dizziness, muscle stiffness, restlessness, or tremor.
The honest part: this is theoretical. It comes from lab work, not from reports in actual people, so the real-world risk is likely small. Small food amounts of resveratrol (red grapes, berries) are very unlikely to matter; concentrated supplements are the bigger question mark. Don't change anything on your own, just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before adding the supplement.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Haloperidol also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. However, clinical research shows that taking resveratrol 3000 mg daily for 8 weeks does not necessitate dose adjustments to medications metabolized by CYP3A4.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Haloperidol (Haldol) is partly cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In test-tube studies, resveratrol can slow this enzyme down a bit. The theory is that if resveratrol blocks CYP3A4, your body might break down haloperidol more slowly, letting levels creep up. With higher haloperidol levels you could see more of its usual side effects, like drowsiness, muscle stiffness, restlessness, tremor, or other movement problems.
Here's the reassuring part: this concern comes only from lab data, not from people. In fact, one human study using a hefty 3000 mg of resveratrol daily for 8 weeks did not require any dose changes for CYP3A4 medications. So a real-world problem seems unlikely. Still, if you take haloperidol and want to add resveratrol, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Resveratrol
What is Resveratrol?
- Heart and blood vessel health
- Antioxidant support
- Anti-aging
- Blood sugar and metabolic support
- General anti-inflammatory support
Resveratrol is a plant compound found in red grapes, berries, and peanuts that is popular for heart health, anti-aging, and antioxidant support. While lab and animal studies are promising, strong human evidence for most uses is still limited. It appears generally well tolerated in supplement doses, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.
About Haloperidol
What Is Haloperidol Used For?
Brand name: Haldol
Haloperidol is used to manage symptoms of psychotic disorders and to control the tics and vocal outbursts of Tourette's disorder in both children and adults.
In children, it is also used for severe combative or explosive behavior problems, and for hyperactivity with conduct disorders — but only when other treatments like therapy or non-antipsychotic medications have not worked.
