Ribociclib Succinate falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Rhubarb interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of rhubarb with potentially hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of developing liver damage.
Some animal research suggests that anthraquinones in rhubarb might have hepatotoxic effects. Also, rhubarb use has been linked to at least 24 cases of liver injury, although details on the dose of rhubarb and duration of use in these cases is unclear.

Here's the concern with pairing rhubarb root supplements and Kisqali (ribociclib). Ribociclib can be tough on the liver on its own, which is why your oncology team checks your liver enzymes with blood tests during treatment. Rhubarb root contains anthraquinones, and there's a theory that these may also stress the liver. Stacking two things that could both irritate the liver is the worry here.

I want to be honest about the evidence though: this is mostly theoretical, based on animal studies and a handful of unclear human reports. It's not a sure thing. Still, with a serious cancer medicine like this, I'd play it safe. Please check with your oncologist or pharmacist before using rhubarb supplements. Eating rhubarb stalks in food is a different story and far less concerning.

What Is Ribociclib Used For?

Brand name: Kisqali

Kisqali is used to treat adults with hormone receptor (HR)-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer. For early breast cancer (stage II or III, at high risk of recurrence), Kisqali is used together with an aromatase inhibitor as adjuvant treatment — meaning it's given after initial treatment to help reduce the chance the cancer comes back.

For advanced or metastatic breast cancer (cancer that has spread), Kisqali is used in combination with either an aromatase inhibitor or fulvestrant — either as the first hormone-based treatment or after the cancer has progressed on another hormone therapy.
