Prucalopride falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Same interacts with.

Taking SAMe with serotonergic drugs might increase the risk of serotonin syndrome and other serotonergic side effects.
SAMe has serotonergic effects. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with SAMe might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome and cerebral vasoconstrictive disorders. In one case report, SAMe 100 mg intramuscularly was given daily with clomipramine (Anafranil) 25 mg per day. When the clomipramine dose was increased to 75 mg per day the patient experienced serotonin syndrome about 48-72 hours later, requiring hospitalization.

Here's the thing to know about pairing SAM-e with prucalopride (Motegrity). Prucalopride works on serotonin receptors in your gut to get things moving, and SAM-e can nudge serotonin activity in the body too. On paper, stacking two things that touch serotonin could raise the small chance of too much serotonin activity. Signs to watch for would be agitation, a racing heart, sweating, shivering, muscle twitching, or feeling unusually restless.

I'll be straight with you: this is mostly theoretical, and the real-world report involved a different, much stronger serotonin medicine, not prucalopride. So the risk here is likely low. Still, since both can act on serotonin, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and don't stop or change anything on your own.

What Is Prucalopride Used For?

Brand names: Resotran, Resolor, Motegrity

Prucalopride tablets — sold under the brand name Motegrity and also available as generic prucalopride and prucalopride succinate — are indicated for the treatment of chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) in adults. CIC is ongoing constipation with no identified underlying cause.

This indication applies to all approved oral tablet forms of prucalopride. It is not approved for use in children; a study in pediatric patients was stopped early because the medication did not show effectiveness in that age group.
