Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the thing about pairing Scopolia with Diclegis or Bonjesta: both work in a similar direction. The doxylamine in your medicine is an antihistamine that already has mild anticholinergic activity, meaning it can dry you out and make you drowsy. Scopolia's plant compounds (atropine, scopolamine, hyoscyamine) are strong anticholinergics too, so stacking them could pile on those effects.

What might that look like? More dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, trouble urinating, a fast heartbeat, confusion, and heavy drowsiness. This concern is based on how these drugs work rather than firm studies, but since you're likely pregnant and using this for nausea, I'd be especially cautious. Please don't use raw Scopolia, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist before combining anything new.
