Lepirudin falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Sorrel interacts with.

Theoretically, sorrel might cause additive effects and side effects when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro, sorrel has been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Lepirudin is a powerful injectable blood thinner, usually given in the hospital to people who can't safely take heparin. It works by directly blocking thrombin, a key clotting protein, so your blood stays thinner and clots form less easily.

Here's the concern with sorrel: in lab dish studies, some of its compounds slowed down platelets, the tiny cells that help blood clump and clot. In theory, stacking that on top of Lepirudin could add to the blood-thinning effect and raise the risk of bruising or bleeding. That said, this has not actually been seen in people, so it's a theoretical worry based on test-tube data, not real cases. Normal cooking amounts of sorrel are unlikely to matter much. If you're on Lepirudin and want to use sorrel regularly, just run it by your doctor or pharmacist first.
