Instead, some lower-quality research suggests that leaning heavily on sunflower oil as your main dietary fat may nudge fasting blood sugar upward in people with type 2 diabetes. If that happens, it could make sitagliptin look like it's working a little less well, so you might see higher glucose readings than you expect.

The good news: this is fairly theoretical and tied to diet patterns, not a typical splash of sunflower oil while cooking. There's no need to avoid it or change your dose on your own. What Is Sitagliptin Used For?

Brand names: Januvia, Zituvio

Sitagliptin is used alongside diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is available as tablets (Januvia, Zituvio, and generic sitagliptin products) and as an oral solution (Brynovin), all approved for this same use.

Sitagliptin is not for type 1 diabetes. It has not been studied in people with a history of pancreatitis, so its safety in that group is unknown.
