Here's the practical takeaway with sunflower oil and your insulin lispro (Admelog). Some lower-quality studies suggest that using a lot of sunflower oil as your main fat source could nudge your fasting blood sugar upward in type 2 diabetes. If that happens, your insulin lispro may seem to work a little less well, meaning your numbers could run higher than usual.

This is mostly a theoretical, diet-related effect, and normal cooking amounts of sunflower oil are unlikely to throw things off. Insulin isn't something the oil chemically blocks, so don't worry about a sudden problem. If you regularly use sunflower oil and notice higher readings, just check your sugars and mention it to your doctor or pharmacist before changing any dose.

What Is Insulin Lispro Injection Used For?

Brand names: Admelog, Admelog Solostar

Insulin lispro injection is used to improve glycemic control (blood sugar management) in people with diabetes mellitus. It is a rapid-acting insulin analog approved for use in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Admelog is specifically indicated to improve glycemic control in patients with diabetes mellitus. Humalog Mix75/25 is indicated to improve glycemic control in adults with diabetes mellitus; it is a fixed-ratio mixture of insulin lispro and insulin lispro protamine, and its fixed proportions do not allow for separate adjustment of basal (background) and prandial (mealtime) doses.
