Oral Drugs
Why this applies to Ascorbic Acid, Polyethylene Glycol 3350, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Ascorbate, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Sulfate
Ascorbic Acid, Polyethylene Glycol 3350, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Ascorbate, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Sulfate falls under Oral Drugs — the group Thyroid Extract interacts with.
Well-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
Here's the thing about Plenvu: it's a heavy-duty bowel prep you drink before a colonoscopy, and its whole job is to flush your colon out fast with watery diarrhea. When you take a thyroid extract supplement around the same time, that rushing stream of fluid simply sweeps the thyroid hormone (T3 and T4) through your gut before your body has a real chance to absorb it. So on prep day, your supplement may barely work, not because it's dangerous together, but because it gets washed right out.
This is a minor, short-lived timing issue, not a scary reaction. Still, on the days you're prepping for your test, I'd ask your doctor or pharmacist how to space your thyroid product, since over-the-counter extracts are already unpredictable in strength.

About Thyroid Extract
What is Thyroid Extract?
- Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid)
- Fatigue and low energy
- Weight management
- Sluggish metabolism
- General thyroid support
Thyroid extract supplements are made from dried animal thyroid gland and may contain real thyroid hormones (T3 and T4), but the amounts in over-the-counter products are not standardized and can be unpredictable. Self-treating a thyroid problem with these supplements can be risky, so always work with a doctor or pharmacist and use prescription thyroid medicine when treatment is needed.
About Polyethylene glycol-electrolyte solution (PEG-ES)
What Is Polyethylene glycol-electrolyte solution (PEG-ES) Used For?
Brand name: Plenvu
-
Polyethylene glycol-electrolyte solution (PEG-ES) is used to empty the colon (large intestine, bowel) before a colonoscopy (examination of the inside of the colon to check for colon cancer and other abnormalities) or barium enema (a test in which the colon is filled with a fluid and then x-rays are taken) so that the doctor will have a clear view of the walls of the colon. PEG-ES is in a class of medications called osmotic laxatives. It works by causing watery diarrhea so that the stool can be emptied from the colon. The medication also contains electrolytes to prevent dehydration and other serious side effects that may be caused by fluid loss as the colon is emptied.
