Here's the good news: this particular interaction really doesn't apply to the chickenpox vaccine (Varivax). The concern on file is about oral thyroid medicine and how food or minerals can block its absorption from your gut. The chickenpox vaccine isn't swallowed, it's given as a shot under the skin, so there's nothing in your stomach to interfere with.

So taking a thyroid extract supplement shouldn't change how well the vaccine works or cause vaccine side effects (like a sore arm, mild fever, or a small rash). My bigger worry is the thyroid extract itself, since these products aren't standardized. Please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before using one so your thyroid is managed safely.
