Additionally, taking thyroid medications with certain drugs, like antacids or calcium supplements, can hinder the effectiveness of the thyroid medication, necessitating adjustments in dosage or timing. Prescription thyroid medications, such as Synthroid, are recommended to be taken on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before food and other medications, for optimal absorption.

Here's the gist for these two together: the concern runs in the direction of your thyroid extract, not your Allegra. Fexofenadine isn't a prodrug, and it doesn't change how your body handles thyroid hormone. But fexofenadine's absorption can be a little finicky, and taking it at the very same time as thyroid hormone may slightly reduce how much of each one your body picks up.

The practical fix is simple: separate them. Many folks take their thyroid product on an empty stomach in the morning, then wait before taking other things like Allegra. This is a minor, easily managed timing issue, not a dangerous combination. Still, since over-the-counter thyroid extracts are unpredictable, please run your routine by your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Fexofenadine Used For?

Brand name: Allegra

Fexofenadine temporarily relieves symptoms of hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) and other upper respiratory allergies, including runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, and itching of the nose or throat.

Several products — including Allegra Hives 24hr tablets — are specifically used to reduce hives (urticaria) and relieve the itching that comes with them. Keep in mind that fexofenadine will not prevent hives or stop an allergic skin reaction from happening in the first place.
