Oral Drugs
Why this applies to Hexocyclium Methylsulfate
Hexocyclium Methylsulfate falls under Oral Drugs — the group Thyroid Extract interacts with.
Well-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
Here's what's going on with Tral (hexocyclium) and a thyroid extract supplement. Hexocyclium is an older anticholinergic that was used to calm stomach cramping and reduce acid. One of its known effects is slowing down how fast your stomach and gut move things along. Because thyroid hormone needs to be absorbed properly in the gut, anything that changes your digestion or sits in your stomach at the same time can make absorption less predictable.
This is rated as a minor timing issue, not a dangerous combination. The simple fix is spacing them out: take your thyroid product on an empty stomach and keep other medicines away from it by at least 30 to 60 minutes. Since over-the-counter thyroid extracts aren't standardized anyway, please check with your doctor or pharmacist about both products.

About Thyroid Extract
What is Thyroid Extract?
- Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid)
- Fatigue and low energy
- Weight management
- Sluggish metabolism
- General thyroid support
Thyroid extract supplements are made from dried animal thyroid gland and may contain real thyroid hormones (T3 and T4), but the amounts in over-the-counter products are not standardized and can be unpredictable. Self-treating a thyroid problem with these supplements can be risky, so always work with a doctor or pharmacist and use prescription thyroid medicine when treatment is needed.
