In vitro research shows that methanolic valerian extract and valerenic acid might competitively inhibit UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT) 1A1 (UGT1A1) and UGT2B7.

Combogesic combines two common pain relievers, acetaminophen and ibuprofen. Both of these are partly cleared from your body through a process called glucuronidation. In the lab, valerian appears to mildly slow some of these clearance enzymes. In theory, that could let a little more of the drug linger in your system. But I want to be honest with you: this comes only from test tube and animal research, not real-world cases, so it's a weak signal.

Practically speaking, occasional valerian for sleep alongside an as-needed dose of Combogesic is unlikely to cause trouble. If you ever notice more stomach upset, drowsiness, or you're taking either daily, just check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.
