ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Insulin Glargine, Lixisenatide
Insulin Glargine, Lixisenatide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group White Pepper interacts with.
Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Soliqua is a combo shot that already lowers your blood sugar two ways: insulin glargine (a long-acting insulin) plus lixisenatide (a GLP-1 medicine). The thinking here is that piperine, the spicy compound in white pepper, may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own. If that's true, stacking it on top of Soliqua could nudge your sugar down a little further, which in theory raises the chance of a low (hypoglycemia), think shakiness, sweating, confusion, or a racing heart.
Honestly, this is a theoretical concern from animal studies, not proven in people. A pinch of pepper on your dinner is very unlikely to matter. If you're considering concentrated piperine supplements, check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your glucose readings.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Insulin Glargine, Lixisenatide page
“Soliqua 100/33 pairs a long-acting insulin, glargine, with lixisenatide, so its whole job is pushing blood sugar down, and that is also what most of the 242 supplements and herbs on this list do. The overlap earns real caution here.”

White pepper comes from the same plant as black pepper and is mostly used as a kitchen spice.
