Olaparib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Zedoary interacts with.

Theoretically, zedoary might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In-vitro research shows that a methanol extract of zedoary strongly inhibits the CYP3A4 metabolism of the tyrosine kinase inhibitors lapatinib and sorafenib, and to a lesser extent, gefitinib.

Here's the gist: your body clears olaparib using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dish studies, zedoary appears to slow that same enzyme down. If that held true in people, it could mean more olaparib lingering in your system than intended, which can amplify its side effects. With olaparib that might look like worse nausea, fatigue, low blood counts (more bruising, infections, or feeling wiped out), or stomach upset.

The important caveat: this is only a theory based on test-tube work, not real patient data, so we honestly don't know if it matters in everyday use. Since olaparib is a serious cancer medicine, I'd skip zedoary supplements and run it by your oncologist or pharmacist before adding anything.

About Olaparib

What Is Olaparib Used For?

Brand name: Lynparza

Lynparza (olaparib) is used to treat adults with certain ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancers that carry BRCA or other DNA-repair gene mutations — both as a maintenance therapy after platinum-based chemotherapy (including in combination with bevacizumab for some patients) and for recurrent disease. It is also approved for HER2-negative breast cancer with a germline BRCA mutation, both in early high-risk disease (adjuvant setting) and in metastatic disease.

Lynparza is additionally used as maintenance therapy for adults with germline BRCA-mutated metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma whose disease has not progressed on first-line platinum-based chemotherapy, and for adults with certain gene-mutated metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer — either alone (after prior enzalutamide or abiraterone) or in combination with abiraterone and prednisone or prednisolone. All uses require testing for specific genetic mutations using an FDA-approved companion diagnostic before starting treatment.
