Aspirin, Pentazocine falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Zizyphus interacts with.

Theoretically, zizyphus might cause additive sedative effects when taken with CNS depressants.
Some animal research has found that various parts of zizyphus have sedative effects. However, other animal research shows that zizyphus plant extract does not alter sleep parameters when used in combination with pentobarbital.

Talwin Compound combines aspirin with pentazocine, and it's the pentazocine part we're watching here. Pentazocine is an opioid pain reliever that already slows down your brain and body, so it can leave you feeling drowsy, lightheaded, or foggy. Zizyphus (jujube) has a traditional reputation for being calming and sleep-promoting, so the concern is simply that stacking the two could add up to more sedation than you'd want.

I'll be honest about the evidence here: this is theoretical. It comes from animal studies, and even those are mixed, with one showing no real change in sleep. Eating jujube fruit as food is very unlikely to matter. A concentrated supplement is the bigger question mark. If you notice extra grogginess or unsteadiness, or before adding a sleep supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Aspirin, Pentazocine also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES.

Theoretically, zizyphus might decrease the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Animal research shows that zizyphus induces CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with Talwin Compound (aspirin plus pentazocine) and zizyphus. In animal studies, zizyphus seemed to speed up a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. Pentazocine is partly cleared by that enzyme, so in theory, revving it up could clear pentazocine a little faster and make your pain relief feel weaker than expected.

I want to be honest about how thin this is. This is theoretical, based only on animal data, and it has never been shown in people. Food amounts of jujube fruit are very unlikely to matter; a concentrated supplement is the bigger question. If you're taking this medicine regularly, just run the zizyphus past your pharmacist or doctor first so they can keep an eye on how well your pain is controlled.
