Clomipramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Zizyphus interacts with.

Theoretically, zizyphus might decrease the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Animal research shows that zizyphus induces CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for clomipramine (Anafranil). Your body partly relies on a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to break this medicine down. Lab and animal studies suggest zizyphus may speed that enzyme up. If that happened in people, your body could clear clomipramine a little faster, which might lower its levels and make it work less well. For something you take to control OCD symptoms, that could mean the medicine feels less effective over time.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is theoretical, seen only in test tube and animal research, and it has never been shown in humans. Eating jujube fruit as food is unlikely to matter. If you're considering a concentrated zizyphus supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first so they can keep an eye on how you're doing.

Clomipramine — sold as Anafranil and under the generic name Clomipramine Hydrochloride — is approved to treat obsessions and compulsions in people with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). This includes adults and children/adolescents ages 10 to 17.
