Imipramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Zizyphus interacts with.

Theoretically, zizyphus might decrease the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Animal research shows that zizyphus induces CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the short version: your liver uses an enzyme called CYP1A2 to help break down imipramine. Lab and animal studies hint that zizyphus may rev up that enzyme. If that happened in people, your body could clear imipramine a bit faster, which might lower its blood levels and make it work less well. For someone using it for depression, that could mean mood symptoms creeping back; for a child using it for bedwetting, it could mean less benefit.

The honest part: this is theoretical and only seen in animals, never confirmed in humans. Eating jujube fruit as food is unlikely to matter. Concentrated supplements are the bigger question mark, so before adding one, check with your pharmacist or doctor and watch how you feel.

What Is Imipramine Used For?

Brand names: Tofranil, Tofranil PM

Imipramine is used to relieve symptoms of depression. Both Imipramine Hydrochloride tablets and Imipramine Pamoate capsules are approved for this use. Endogenous depression — the kind that seems to arise from within rather than a clear outside cause — tends to respond especially well. It may take one to three weeks before you notice the full benefit.

Imipramine Hydrochloride tablets are also approved as a short-term, add-on treatment to help reduce nighttime bedwetting (nocturnal enuresis) in children aged 6 and older, after a doctor has ruled out physical causes.
