Pentobarbitone falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Zizyphus interacts with.

Theoretically, zizyphus might cause additive sedative effects when taken with CNS depressants.
Some animal research has found that various parts of zizyphus have sedative effects. However, other animal research shows that zizyphus plant extract does not alter sleep parameters when used in combination with pentobarbital.

Pentobarbitone is a barbiturate, a strong sedative that slows down the brain. The concern here isn't about how your body breaks the drug down. Instead, it's a matter of two calming agents stacking up. Zizyphus (jujube) has been used traditionally to help with sleep and relaxation, so in theory it could add to pentobarbitone's effects, leaving you more drowsy, dizzy, foggy, or unsteady than expected.

That said, this is a theoretical caution drawn from animal studies, and some of that research showed jujube didn't actually change pentobarbital's sleep effects. Eating the fruit as a food is unlikely to matter much, but concentrated supplements are less predictable. Since pentobarbitone is a powerful medicine, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two.
