Here's the simple version: both of these are heavy-duty brain and nervous system depressants. Pentobarbitone is a barbiturate, and like GHB it slows down activity in the brain to cause deep sedation and sleep. Put the two together and those calming effects don't just add up, they pile on top of each other.

The real worry here is your breathing. Combining GHB with pentobarbitone can push you into dangerous oversedation, very slow or shallow breathing, unresponsiveness, and even coma. This is rated a major interaction for good reason. I'd add that non-prescription GHB isn't a safe supplement at all. Please don't pair these, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist about anything you're taking.

Theoretically, GHB may reduce the effects of anticonvulsant medications.
GHB has been reported to cause seizures, and may theoretically reduce the effectiveness of anticonvulsants. Also, concomitant use of GHB with sedative anticonvulsants may increase the risk of serious CNS and respiratory depression.

Let me be straight with you here. Pentobarbitone is a barbiturate, which is a strong sedative that calms the brain and slows breathing. GHB is also a powerful brain depressant. Put the two together and those slowing effects can stack up fast. We're talking about deep sedation, dangerously slow or shallow breathing, and a real risk of coma. That's the part that worries me most.

On top of that, GHB has been linked to triggering seizures, so in theory it could work against the seizure control or calming benefit you're getting from pentobarbitone. The evidence for that piece is mostly anecdotal, but the breathing and sedation danger is genuine. Please don't combine these without talking to your doctor or pharmacist first.

GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate) is a powerful central nervous system depressant that is NOT a safe dietary supplement. In the U.S. it is a controlled substance, and only a tightly regulated prescription form (sodium oxybate) is legal for narcolepsy. Non-prescription GHB can cause coma, breathing failure, and death, and it is also a known 'date-rape' drug — it should not be taken outside of medical supervision.
