Each can slow how the kidneys pull the drug out of the blood, which would let it linger and build to higher levels than intended. Because pemetrexed is chemotherapy, used mostly for lung cancer and mesothelioma, extra exposure translates into more of its side effects, like low blood counts. Nothing here is a hard stop for most patients, but these combinations deserve watching, especially quercetin, a common antioxidant supplement, and caffeic acid, which appears in many plant-derived products.
