Advanced Probiotic Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Advanced Probiotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This Advanced Probiotic has 7 active ingredients—all live, beneficial bacteria strains. The main players are Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum, both well-studied probiotics meant to support gut health.
You're also getting Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus paracasei, and Bifidobacterium animalis lactis, plus a proprietary blend that ties them together. The capsule also contains inulin (a prebiotic fiber that feeds the good bacteria), vegetable capsule material, magnesium stearate, and silica as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The two main ingredients we have data for show promise in a few areas. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for IBS and respiratory tract infections. For other claimed uses like allergies, anxiety, or Alzheimer's disease, the evidence isn't established in the data we hold.
The other ingredients in the blend haven't been rated in our system, so we can't speak to what they add.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Both Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. That said, the data are limited, and the facts advise checking with your doctor before you start.
Because these are live organisms, there is a theoretical risk of infection in people with very weak immune systems—especially those in critical care settings—though such cases are extremely rare. Mild gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, gas, stomach discomfort, or loose stool can occur when you first start probiotics, but these are uncommon.
One clinical trial reported a rash and itching in a small number of participants, though it's unclear whether the probiotics or something else caused it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotic drugs, separate your doses from this probiotic by a few hours—antibiotics can kill off the live organisms before they work. No other major medication types show documented interactions with the ingredients we could check, but use the medication checker below with your full list to be certain.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have IBS or are dealing with antibiotic-related diarrhea, this probiotic is worth a conversation with your pharmacist. Just don't take it at the same time as an antibiotic—space them out a few hours.
If you have a weakened immune system or are in critical care, check with your doctor first. Most people tolerate probiotics well.

Advanced Probiotic by Havasu Nutrition Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Havasu Nutrition's Advanced Probiotic contains live bacterial organisms that can interact with antibiotic drugs.
Both Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum may lose effectiveness if you take them at the same time as antibiotics—the antibiotics can kill the probiotic organisms before they've had a chance to work. This is a Moderate interaction, and the fix is straightforward: space out your doses.
Ask your pharmacist or doctor how far apart to take them; often a few hours makes the difference.
