What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains 11 ingredients: 10 strains of live probiotic bacteria and organic aloe vera. The probiotics include Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus salivarius, and Streptococcus thermophilus.
These live organisms are meant to support your gut flora. The aloe vera is the plant-based second active ingredient.
The capsules also contain inactive ingredients—microcrystalline cellulose (a binder), hypromellose (a capsule material), fructooligosaccharides (a prebiotic fiber), stearic acid, and silicon dioxide—which help hold the product together and deliver it.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these probiotics is mixed and limited. Lactobacillus acidophilus shows possibly effective ratings for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
The other probiotic strains mostly have insufficient evidence to rate them, though Bifidobacterium breve is rated possibly ineffective for age-related cognitive decline and sepsis. Aloe vera fares better: it's rated possibly effective for acne, obesity, diabetes, psoriasis, burns, and constipation.
That said, the strength of evidence behind both the probiotics and aloe for most conditions is not established in our data, so talk with your pharmacist or doctor about whether this product is right for what you're trying to address.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The probiotics in this product are generally well tolerated in healthy people, but they need caution in anyone with a weakened immune system or serious illness—there have been rare cases of infection (bacteremia and sepsis) in critically ill patients, preterm infants, and people with central lines or catheters. Bifidobacterium longum is rated possibly safe in pregnancy and lactation, but the other probiotics have limited safety data, so check with your doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Aloe is a different story: oral aloe latex (which this product likely contains) can cause abdominal pain, cramps, and diarrhea, and long-term use may lead to potassium loss and electrolyte imbalances. You should avoid taking aloe by mouth during pregnancy because it may stimulate the uterus and act as a strong laxative, and avoid it while breastfeeding due to limited safety data and its laxative effects.
Probiotics from food sources are generally considered more acceptable during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but talk with your provider first.
Meds to double-check
Major interaction found
Before you take this product, double-check with your pharmacist if you take digoxin (Lanoxin)—that's a Major interaction with aloe. Also flag anticoagulants or blood thinners like warfarin, diabetes medications, diuretics, stimulant laxatives, or antibiotics—all of these have Moderate interactions.
If you take any CYP1A2 substrate drugs (ask your pharmacist for the list), aloe may affect them as well, though that's a Minor concern.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Major medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have a healthy immune system and no serious illness, you may consider this for digestive support or the possible benefits aloe offers. However, be careful if you take digoxin, blood thinners, diabetes medications, diuretics, or antibiotics—your pharmacist needs to know.
Pregnant or breastfeeding women, people who are severely ill or immunocompromised, and anyone with a central line should talk to their doctor before taking it. Check your exact medications with the tool on this page.

Aloe 10,000 & Probiotics by NOW Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
NOW's Aloe 10,000 & Probiotics does have documented interactions with medications, and the most serious one involves aloe with digoxin (Lanoxin), a heart medication.
Aloe latex can increase potassium loss and raise the risk of digoxin toxicity, which is a Major concern. Overuse is the key risk factor here.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Moderate interactions also exist between aloe and anticoagulants or blood thinners like warfarin—aloe may increase bleeding risk. Aloe can also lower blood sugar (hypoglycemia), so it needs careful monitoring if you take diabetes medications.
Diuretics and stimulant laxatives pose a Moderate concern too, since aloe can compound potassium loss. Several probiotics in this product—Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium breve, and Lactobacillus acidophilus—interact with antibiotics; taking them at the same time might reduce the probiotic's effectiveness, so your doctor may recommend spacing them apart.
Aloe also has a Minor interaction with a group of drugs called CYP1A2 substrates, which it may decrease in effectiveness. Altogether, these interactions span 640 individual medications.
We couldn't check several of the probiotic strains in this formula—Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus casei, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis, and Lactobacillus salivarius—because we hold no data for them. Use the medication checker on this page to look up your exact drugs before you start.

organic Aloe Vera
Digoxin (Lanoxin)
Theoretically, aloe latex might increase the risk of adverse effects when taken with cardiac glycosides.
Overuse of aloe latex can increase the risk of adverse effects from cardiac glycoside drugs, such as digoxin, due to potassium depletion. Overuse of aloe, along with cardiac glycoside drugs, can increase the risk of toxicity.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, aloe gel might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro research shows that aloe gel can inhibit platelet aggregation. This inhibition was greater than that seen with celecoxib, but less than that seen with aspirin.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Aloe might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
Preliminary clinical research suggests aloe gel might lower blood glucose levels and have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs. Monitor blood glucose levels closely.
Diuretic Drugs
Theoretically, aloe latex might increase the risk of hypokalemia when taken with diuretic drugs.
Overuse of aloe latex might compound diuretic-induced potassium loss, increasing the risk of hypokalemia.
Stimulant Laxatives
Theoretically, aloe latex might increase the risk for fluid and electrolyte loss when taken with stimulant laxatives.
Due to cathartic laxative effects of aloe latex, concomitant use with other stimulant laxatives might compound fluid and electrolyte loss.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Theoretically, aloe latex might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with warfarin.
Aloe latex has stimulant laxative effects. In some people aloe latex can cause diarrhea. Diarrhea can increase the effects of warfarin, increase international normalized ratio (INR), and increase the risk of bleeding. Advise patients who take warfarin not to take excessive amounts of aloe vera.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, aloe might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
