What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Alpha-GPC against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: alpha-GPC, a compound that delivers choline to your brain. The capsules also hold inactive ingredients (olive oil, a plant-based capsule coating, vitamin E acetate, and chlorophyllin) that support absorption and shelf life.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for alpha-GPC is mixed. It's rated possibly effective for Alzheimer disease.
For cognitive function, vascular dementia, stroke, and brain tumor, there isn't enough reliable evidence yet to say whether it works. If you're considering it for a specific condition, that's worth discussing with your doctor.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Alpha-GPC is generally well tolerated in the studies we have, but long-term safety hasn't been fully worked out. Rare side effects reported orally include dizziness, headache, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, and diarrhea.
One concern: alpha-GPC used for at least 2 months has been rarely linked to an elevated stroke risk compared with non-users or short-term users. The product label advises against use unless your doctor directs it, given incomplete safety information.
Meds to double-check
Minor interactions only
Before taking alpha-GPC, check if you use a scopolamine patch (Transderm Scop) for motion sickness or nausea — alpha-GPC may reduce its effects. The product interacts with medications in that drug family, so run your exact medications through the search tool on this page.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.
Alpha-GPC may interest people exploring support for Alzheimer disease, but evidence for other brain and cognitive claims is still uncertain. Because long-term safety isn't fully established and a potential stroke risk exists with prolonged use, talk to your pharmacist or doctor before starting — especially if you're older, have a stroke history, or take motion-sickness medication.

It may theoretically decrease the effects of scopolamine (the motion-sickness patch Transderm Scop). A small study showed alpha-GPC can partially counteract the attention and memory problems that scopolamine causes, but it's unclear whether it would reduce the patch's anti-nausea benefits.

Alpha-GPC
Scopolamine (Transderm Scop)
Theoretically, alpha-GPC might decrease the effects of scopolamine.
A small clinical study shows that alpha-GPC can partially counteract the attention and memory impairment effects caused by scopolamine given intramuscularly. Whether alpha-GPC can decrease the beneficial anti-motion sickness effects of the scopolamine patch (Transderm Scop) is unclear.
