Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: apple cider vinegar powder. The capsule itself is made from vegetarian capsule material, which is an inactive ingredient.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Apple Cider Vinegar's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: weight loss, sore throat, upset stomach remedy.
  • We looked for evidence on: Dyspepsia, Obesity, Pharyngitis, Gastroesophageal reflux, Indigestion.
  • The closest evidence on file: Apple Cider Vinegar is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Dyspepsia (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Apple Cider Vinegar is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Obesity, Pharyngitis.

The evidence we hold does not establish that apple cider vinegar is effective for any of the uses we have data on—including acne, athletic performance, cognitive function, dental plaque, depression, and atopic dermatitis (eczema). All of these are rated insufficient reliable evidence.

That doesn't mean it won't work; it means the research so far hasn't proven it does.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

In food amounts, apple cider vinegar is generally well tolerated. Short-term medicinal use also appears well tolerated.

However, large doses or long-term use raise concerns. In one documented case, someone who drank 250 mL of apple cider vinegar daily for 6 years developed low potassium, elevated renin levels, and osteoporosis (weakened bones).

Topical use can cause chemical burns and skin irritation; there are published reports of burns from applying it directly to skin. The safety data on supplement-sized doses is limited.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Apple Cider Vinegar.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: diabetes medications; heart-rhythm medications.
  • For scale: 162 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you take diuretic drugs (water pills), digoxin (Lanoxin), insulin, or antidiabetes medications. The main risk is low potassium from combining apple cider vinegar with diuretics or digoxin, or increased low blood sugar if you're already on diabetes medication.

Apple Cider Vinegar by Fresh Nutrition: Common Questions

Does Apple Cider Vinegar by Fresh Nutrition interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Apple Cider Vinegar has a known interaction with 162 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Apple Cider Vinegar contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Is apple cider vinegar safe to take long-term?
In food amounts, yes—it's well tolerated. But medicinal or supplement doses taken long-term raise concerns. One documented case involved serious problems including low potassium and weakened bones after 6 years of daily use. There's limited safety data on large supplement doses, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist about what's right for you.
Can I apply apple cider vinegar directly to my skin?
The safety data advises against topical use. There are published reports of chemical burns and skin irritation from applying apple cider vinegar to skin, even in one case from a single application.
Does apple cider vinegar actually work for acne, eczema, or other conditions?
We don't have reliable evidence that it works for acne, atopic dermatitis (eczema), dental plaque, depression, athletic performance, or cognitive function. That doesn't mean people won't see results, but the research hasn't proven effectiveness yet.
Why is potassium such a big deal with this product?
Apple cider vinegar can lower your potassium level, especially with long-term use. Potassium helps your heart beat normally and your muscles work—when it drops too low, you can develop serious problems. If you take medications that already lower potassium, like diuretics or digoxin, the risk is higher.
What does it mean that there are 162 medications this interacts with?
That's the total count of individual medications affected across all the drug categories we identified—mainly diuretics, digoxin, insulin, and diabetes drugs. It doesn't mean you're taking all of them, but if you take any from those categories, you should check with your doctor or pharmacist first.
