Brain Productivity Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by NooCube
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Brain Productivity against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Full disclosure
NooCube Brain Productivity contains 13 active ingredients designed to support focus and mental clarity. Vitamin B12 helps with nerve function and red blood cell production.
L-Theanine is an amino acid thought to promote calm focus without drowsiness. Resveratrol is a plant polyphenol, and L-Tyrosine is an amino acid precursor to brain chemicals that support alertness.
Huperzia serrata (Toothed Clubmoss) and Bacopa monnieri extract are herbal ingredients traditionally used for cognitive support. Alpha-GPC is a compound that supplies choline to the brain.
Oat Straw Extract and Cat's Claw Extract Concentrate are plant-based additions. Pterostilbene is a compound similar to resveratrol.
Vitamin B7 (Biotin) supports energy metabolism. Lutein (Lutemax 2020) is a carotenoid that supports eye health.
The capsules also contain inactive ingredients: a capsule shell and magnesium stearate (a flow agent).
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Evidence varies widely by ingredient. Vitamin B12 is effective for treating B12 deficiency and certain neurological conditions.
L-Theanine shows possibly effective evidence for cognitive function. Resveratrol is possibly effective for some allergies and obesity.
L-Tyrosine is possibly effective for cognitive function and memory. Oat Straw Extract is likely effective for cholesterol and heart health.
Lutein is possibly effective for age-related macular degeneration and cataracts — supporting eye rather than brain health. For most other ingredients — Huperzia serrata, Bacopa, Cat's Claw, Alpha-GPC, and Pterostilbene — the evidence for cognitive benefit is either insufficient to rate or not established in our data.
Vitamin B7 does not have effectiveness ratings for cognitive support.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Most ingredients are generally well tolerated in short-term use. Vitamin B12 is very safe; excess is removed in the urine and it's considered safe in pregnancy and breastfeeding at recommended amounts.
Lutein, Vitamin B7, and Oat Straw (as food) are safe in pregnancy and lactation. However, L-Theanine, Resveratrol, Bacopa, Huperzia serrata, Cat's Claw, and Alpha-GPC all lack sufficient safety data in pregnancy and breastfeeding — the facts advise avoiding them unless a doctor directs otherwise.
L-Tyrosine also has limited pregnancy/lactation data and warrants discussion with your provider. Common side effects include headache, nausea, and digestive upset from several ingredients.
Resveratrol and Oat Straw may cause gastrointestinal discomfort. Bacopa can cause nausea, diarrhea, and dry mouth.
Huperzia serrata may cause dizziness and sweating. Alpha-GPC has rarely been associated with stroke with long-term use.
Cat's Claw carries rare case reports of kidney injury.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Double-check with your pharmacist if you take: blood thinners (anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs) — Resveratrol and Cat's Claw may increase bleeding risk (Moderate); diabetes or insulin medications — Oat Straw may lower blood sugar and require dose adjustment (Moderate); blood pressure medications — L-Theanine, Cat's Claw, and Huperzia serrata may increase effects (Moderate); levodopa for Parkinson's — L-Tyrosine may reduce its effectiveness (Moderate); thyroid hormone — L-Tyrosine or Bacopa may have additive effects (Moderate); and any drugs metabolized by liver enzymes (CYP450 systems) — Resveratrol, Bacopa, and Cat's Claw may raise levels (Moderate). Metformin users should know Vitamin B12 levels may drop over time (Minor).
Also mention any anticholinergic or cholinergic medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
NooCube Brain Productivity is a multi-ingredient formula with some research support for individual components like B12 and Oat Straw, though evidence for cognitive boost is mixed. If you take blood pressure or blood-thinning medications, diabetes drugs, levodopa, thyroid hormone, or any cholinergic or anticholinergic agent, you'll need to check your specific medications before starting — this product has substantial interaction potential.
Pregnant or breastfeeding? Talk to your pharmacist or doctor first; most of these ingredients lack safety data in those situations.

Brain Productivity by NooCube Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
NooCube Brain Productivity contains 13 ingredients, several of which interact with medications.
The most serious interaction involves Bacopa monnieri extract, which can theoretically affect multiple enzyme systems and increase levels of drugs metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYP1A2, CYP2C19, CYP2C9, and CYP3A4) — all rated Moderate severity. Bacopa may also have additive effects with cholinergic drugs and counteract anticholinergic medications.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Resveratrol carries Moderate-severity interactions with blood thinners (anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs), potentially raising bleeding risk, and also theoretically affects CYP2C19, CYP1A2, CYP3A4, and CYP2E1 substrates. Cat's Claw Extract Concentrate similarly affects CYP3A4 substrates and blood thinners, and may increase blood pressure medication effects or interfere with immune-suppressing drugs.
L-Tyrosine has Moderate interactions with levodopa (a Parkinson's medication) and thyroid hormone replacements. Huperzia serrata (Toothed Clubmoss) may counteract anticholinergic drugs or have additive effects with cholinergic agents.
Oat Straw Extract can theoretically lower blood sugar and may require insulin or diabetes medication dose adjustments (both Moderate severity).
L-Theanine carries Minor interactions with blood pressure medications and CNS depressants. Vitamin B12 has a Minor interaction with metformin, which can lower B12 absorption over time.
Alpha-GPC has a Minor interaction with scopolamine. Vitamin B1 and Pterostilbene were not checked — we hold no interaction data for them.
Lutein and Vitamin B7 (Biotin) have no documented interactions with medications. Altogether, these interactions span 1,431 individual medications.

For each ingredient in Brain Productivity with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Cat's Claw Extract Concentrate
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, cat's claw may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Cat's claw contains rhynchophylline and isorhynchophylline. Animal research suggests that these alkaloids can inhibit platelet aggregation. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, taking cat's claw with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Cat's claw contains rhynchophylline. In vitro and animal research suggests that rhynchophylline can lower blood pressure. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Calcium Channel Blockers
Theoretically, taking cat's claw with calcium channel blockers might increase the risk of hypotension.
Cat's claw contains various alkaloids, including rhynchophylline, isorhynchophylline, corynoxeine, and isocorynoxiene. Animal research suggests that these alkaloids can lower blood pressure by acting as calcium channel blockers. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, cat's claw might increase or decrease the levels and effects of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Cat's claw may affect the clearance of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4. In vitro research shows that cat's claw can inhibit CYP3A4 enzymes. In one case report, a patient taking cat's claw (at an unspecified dose) experienced increased serum levels of atazanavir, ritonavir, and saquinavir, all of which are CYP3A4 substrates. Levels returned to normal 15 days after discontinuation of the cat's claw supplement, suggesting inhibition of CYP3A4 by cat's claw. In contrast, animal research suggests that rhynchophylline, an alkaloid contained in cat's claw, induces CYP3A expression and accelerates the metabolism of nirmatrelvir, the active component in the nirmatrelvir/ritonavir combination product.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, cat's claw might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
In human and laboratory research, cat's claw has been shown to have immunostimulating activity. It stimulates phagocytosis and increases respiratory cellular activity and the mobility of leukocytes. Theoretically, this could interfere with the activity of immunosuppressant medications.
Nirmatrelvir/Ritonavir (Paxlovid)
Theoretically, cat's claw may decrease the levels of nirmatrelvir.
Cat's claw contains rhynchophylline. Animal research suggests that this alkaloid induces CYP3A expression, thereby accelerating the metabolism of nirmatrelvir, the active component in the nirmatrelvir/ritonavir combination product. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Bacopa monnieri extract
Anticholinergic Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use might decrease the effectiveness of both agents.
Bacopa seems to inhibit acetylcholinesterase and might increase acetylcholine levels, which could counteract the effects of anticholinergic drugs. Similarly, anticholinergic drugs might counteract the cholinergic effects of bacopa.
Cevimeline (Evoxac)
Theoretically, bacopa might increase the effects and adverse effects of cevimeline.
In one case, a 58-year-old female taking cevimeline long-term for Sjogren syndrome experienced hyperhidrosis, malaise, nausea, and tachycardia shortly after taking a single dose of bacopa. Symptoms resolved after two days. Cevimeline is metabolized by cytochrome P450 (CYP) 2D6 and CYP3A4, and researchers theorize that bacopa may have inhibited these isoenzymes. However, it is unclear if bacopa causes clinically significant inhibition of either CYP2D6 or CYP3A4.
Cholinergic Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of bacopa with other cholinergic drugs might have additive effects.
Bacopa seems to inhibit acetylcholinesterase and might increase acetylcholine levels. Theoretically, this could result in additive cholinergic effects when used with cholinergic drugs.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP1A2 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence shows that bacopa extract can moderately and non-competitively inhibit CYP1A2, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP2C19 substrates.
In vitro evidence suggests that bacopa extract can moderately and non-competitively inhibit CYP2C19 enzymes. It is not known whether this is clinically significant.
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates
Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP2C9 substrates.
Research on the effect of bacopa extracts on CYP2C9 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence suggests that bacopa extract can moderately and non-competitively inhibit CYP2C9, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP3A4 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence suggests that bacopa extract can moderately and competitively inhibit CYP3A4, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.
Thyroid Hormone
Theoretically, bacopa might have additive effects when used with thyroid hormone.
Animal research suggests that bacopa increases thyroxine (T4) levels in mice by about 40%.
Resveratrol
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Resveratrol may have antiplatelet effects and may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Resveratrol seems to have antiplatelet effects.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP2C19 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates
Resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2E1.
In vitro research suggests that resveratrol inhibits CYP2E1 isoenzyme. Also, a pharmacokinetic study shows that taking resveratrol 500 mg daily for 10 days prior to taking a single dose of chlorzoxazone 250 mg increases the maximum concentration of chlorzoxazone by about 54%, the area under the curve of chlorzoxazone by about 72%, and the half-life of chlorzoxazone by about 35%. Chlorzoxazone is used as a probe drug for CYP2E1.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. However, clinical research shows that taking resveratrol 3000 mg daily for 8 weeks does not necessitate dose adjustments to medications metabolized by CYP3A4.
L-Theanine
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theanine might lower blood pressure, potentiating the effects of antihypertensive drugs.
Animal research shows that theanine can lower blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive animals. Theoretically, concomitant use of theanine and antihypertensive drugs might potentiate the antihypertensive activity.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, theanine might have additive sedative effects when used in conjunction with CNS depressants. However, it is unclear if this concern is clinically relevant.
Theoretically, theanine may compete with glutamate and/or increase plasma gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) levels, which could cause CNS depression. In one clinical study, some subjects taking oral theanine reported drowsiness.
Serotonergic Drugs
Clinical studies regarding the effects of L-theanine on serotonin levels are conflicting. Some studies suggest it can increase serotonin levels in the brain while others report that it may decrease them. Nevertheless, there have been no reports of l-theanine being a causative agent in serotonergic-related side effects or serotonin syndrome.
Huperzia serrata
Anticholinergic Drugs
In animal models, toothed clubmoss and huperzine A, an active constituent of toothed clubmoss, reversed cognitive deficits induced by scopolamine. Theoretically, concurrent use of anticholinergic drugs and toothed clubmoss might decrease the effectiveness of toothed clubmoss or the anticholinergic drug.
Some anticholinergic drugs include atropine, benztropine (Cogentin), biperiden (Akineton), procyclidine (Kemadrin), and trihexyphenidyl (Artane).
Cholinergic Drugs
Huperzine A, a constituent of toothed clubmoss, has demonstrated acetylcholinesterase inhibitory properties. Theoretically, concurrent use of toothed clubmoss with cholinergic drugs might have additive effects and increase the risk of cholinergic side effects.
Cholinergic drugs include bethanechol (Urecholine), donepezil (Aricept), echothiophate (Phospholine Iodide), edrophonium (Enlon, Reversol, Tensilon), neostigmine (Prostigmin), physostigmine (Antilirium), pyridostigmine (Mestinon, Regonol), succinylcholine (Anectine, Quelicin), and tacrine (Cognex).
Oat Straw Extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, oats may have additive effects with antidiabetic agents and might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Consuming oats can decrease blood glucose in patients with diabetes. In those who require insulin, taking oats 100 grams daily for 2 days reduces the insulin dose required to achieve metabolic control.
Insulin
Concomitant use of oats and insulin might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In patients with insulin-dependent type 2 diabetes, taking oats 100 grams daily for 2 days reduces the insulin dose required to achieve metabolic control.
L-Tyrosine
Levodopa
Theoretically, tyrosine might decrease the effectiveness of levodopa.
Tyrosine and levodopa compete for absorption in the proximal duodenum by the large neutral amino acid (LNAA) transport system. Advise patients to separate doses of tyrosine and levodopa by at least 2 hours.
Thyroid Hormone
Theoretically, tyrosine might have additive effects with thyroid hormone medications.
Tyrosine is a precursor to thyroxine and might increase levels of thyroid hormones.
Vitamin B12
Metformin (Glucophage)
Metformin, a common medication used to manage type 2 diabetes, has been associated with lower vitamin B12 levels in some individuals. Prolonged use of metformin can interfere with the absorption of B12 in the digestive system, potentially leading to a deficiency in this essential vitamin.
Alpha GPC
Scopolamine (Transderm Scop)
Theoretically, alpha-GPC might decrease the effects of scopolamine.
A small clinical study shows that alpha-GPC can partially counteract the attention and memory impairment effects caused by scopolamine given intramuscularly. Whether alpha-GPC can decrease the beneficial anti-motion sickness effects of the scopolamine patch (Transderm Scop) is unclear.
