HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Co-Q10 100 mg by DC
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), a compound your cells naturally produce to generate energy and protect themselves from damage. The softgel also holds inactive ingredients — rice bran oil, gelatin, glycerin, and soy lecithin — which help deliver the CoQ10.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Coenzyme Q10 is likely effective for treating a deficiency of the compound itself. It's rated possibly effective for fibromyalgia, migraine headache, congestive heart failure, and diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage from diabetes).
The evidence supporting these uses exists but isn't as strong as the deficiency data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Coenzyme Q10 is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth at standard doses. In clinical trials, no serious side effects were reported.
The most common unwanted effects are gastrointestinal — things like nausea, diarrhea, heartburn, and loss of appetite — but these occur in fewer than 1% of people. Headache, dizziness, and insomnia have been reported, along with rare cases of skin itching or rash.
There isn't enough reliable safety data for pregnancy, so it's best to avoid it unless your doctor advises otherwise. Safety while breastfeeding hasn't been well studied — use caution and check with your doctor before taking it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check before starting if you take warfarin or another blood thinner — CoQ10 may reduce its clotting prevention. Also check if you're on alkylating chemotherapy drugs like cyclophosphamide, since the antioxidant effect might interfere with cancer treatment.
And let your pharmacist know if you're on any blood pressure medications, since CoQ10 can lower blood pressure on its own.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Consider Co-Q10 if you have a documented CoQ10 deficiency or are exploring it for heart health, migraines, or nerve pain — talk to your doctor about whether it's right for your situation. If you take warfarin, chemotherapy, or blood pressure medications, you need to check with your pharmacist first.
Coenzyme Q10 is easy on most people's stomachs, but ask us about dividing your dose if you take more than 100 mg daily.

Co-Q10 100 mg by DC Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Co-Q10 100 mg by DC does interact with a few important medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners (anticoagulants) like warfarin (Coumadin). Coenzyme Q10 has a chemical structure similar to vitamin K, which promotes blood clotting — and this may reduce how well warfarin works to prevent clots.
A small number of cases of decreased warfarin effectiveness have been reported when coenzyme Q10 was added.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Coenzyme Q10 also interacts with chemotherapy drugs called alkylating agents (such as cyclophosphamide). Because it has antioxidant properties, it may theoretically reduce the effectiveness of these cancer medications, which work partly by creating damaging free radicals in tumor cells.
Minor interactions are documented with blood pressure medications (antihypertensives). Coenzyme Q10 can lower blood pressure in some people, so taking it alongside a blood pressure drug could theoretically add together and lower your pressure more than intended — though study results on this have been mixed.
Algether, these interactions span 198 individual medications. If you take any of these drug types, run your exact medications through the interaction checker on this page before you start.

For each ingredient in Co-Q10 100 mg with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Coenzyme Q-10
Alkylating Agents
Coenzyme Q10 has antioxidant effects. Theoretically, this may reduce the activity of chemotherapy drugs that generate free radicals.
Theoretically, antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10 might protect tumor cells from chemotherapeutic agents that work by inducing oxidative stress, such as alkylating agents (e.g., cyclophosphamide) and radiation therapy. The clinical importance of this interaction is unknown.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to menaquinone and might have vitamin K-like procoagulant effects, which could decrease the effects of warfarin.
Concomitant use of coenzyme Q10 and warfarin might reduce the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. Four cases of decreased warfarin efficacy thought to be due to coenzyme Q10 have been reported. However, there is some preliminary clinical research that suggests coenzyme Q10 might not significantly decrease the effects of warfarin in patients who have a stable INR.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, coenzyme Q10 might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research shows that coenzyme Q10 can significantly lower blood pressure, although other studies have shown conflicting results.
