Coast Q10 Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Coast Q10 against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Coast Q10 is a single-ingredient supplement containing coenzyme Q10 (also called CoQ10), a compound your cells naturally make and use to generate energy. It comes in a veggie capsule with maltodextrin as an inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Coenzyme Q10 is rated likely effective for treating coenzyme Q10 deficiency itself. For other conditions, the evidence is mixed: it's rated possibly effective for fibromyalgia, migraine headache, congestive heart failure, and diabetic neuropathy.
That means there's some research support, but it's not definitive yet.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Coenzyme Q10 is generally well tolerated by most adults when used as directed. In clinical studies, no serious adverse effects have been reported.
The most common side effects are gastrointestinal — appetite suppression, diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, and vomiting — but these occur in less than 1% of people and can often be minimized by dividing doses above 100 mg throughout the day. Headache, dizziness, and insomnia have been reported.
Skin itching and allergic rash are rare. Safety data during pregnancy is not sufficient — there isn't enough reliable information to say whether it's safe or unsafe, so your doctor should weigh the risks and benefits for your situation.
Safety while breastfeeding has not been well studied either; check with your doctor before using this product if you're nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this product, check with your pharmacist if you're on chemotherapy (especially alkylating agents), warfarin or other blood thinners, or any blood pressure medication. These are the main medication types documented to interact with coenzyme Q10.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Coast Q10 is worth considering if you have a documented coenzyme Q10 deficiency or want to explore it for migraine, heart health, or nerve pain — though the evidence is strongest for deficiency itself. If you take warfarin, chemotherapy, or blood pressure medication, you absolutely need to check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding both warrant a conversation with your doctor before starting.

Coast Q10 by Coast Science Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Coast Q10 contains coenzyme Q10, which has documented interactions with 198 individual medications.
The most serious concern is with chemotherapy drugs called alkylating agents (like cyclophosphamide). Coenzyme Q10 is a powerful antioxidant, and theory suggests it might shield tumor cells from the free-radical damage these chemo drugs rely on — potentially making treatment less effective.
This is a Moderate-severity interaction.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
You'll also want to flag warfarin (a blood thinner used to prevent clots). Coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to vitamin K and may work like a clotting agent itself, which could reduce warfarin's effect.
Four cases of decreased warfarin effectiveness tied to coenzyme Q10 have been reported — another Moderate-severity finding.
Blood pressure medications (antihypertensives) are a Minor-severity concern. Coenzyme Q10 may lower blood pressure on its own, so taking it alongside blood pressure drugs could theoretically add up and drop your pressure further.
The evidence on coenzyme Q10's blood pressure effect is mixed, though — some studies show it works, others don't.
Altogether, these interactions span 198 individual medications. Use the checker below to see if any of your prescriptions are on that list before you start this supplement.

For each ingredient in Coast Q10 with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Coenzyme Q-10
Alkylating Agents
Coenzyme Q10 has antioxidant effects. Theoretically, this may reduce the activity of chemotherapy drugs that generate free radicals.
Theoretically, antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10 might protect tumor cells from chemotherapeutic agents that work by inducing oxidative stress, such as alkylating agents (e.g., cyclophosphamide) and radiation therapy. The clinical importance of this interaction is unknown.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to menaquinone and might have vitamin K-like procoagulant effects, which could decrease the effects of warfarin.
Concomitant use of coenzyme Q10 and warfarin might reduce the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. Four cases of decreased warfarin efficacy thought to be due to coenzyme Q10 have been reported. However, there is some preliminary clinical research that suggests coenzyme Q10 might not significantly decrease the effects of warfarin in patients who have a stable INR.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, coenzyme Q10 might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research shows that coenzyme Q10 can significantly lower blood pressure, although other studies have shown conflicting results.
