This product contains two active ingredients: Citrus Pectin and a Lactobacillus Acidophilus and Lactobacillus Bulgaricus Complex. Pectin is a type of soluble fiber from citrus that's been studied for its potential effects on cholesterol and blood sugar control.
Lactobacillus acidophilus is a friendly bacteria (probiotic) meant to support digestive and gut health. The capsule itself is made from gelatin and cellulose, with vegetable stearate as an inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The pectin in this product is possibly effective for high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia), but the evidence for its use in prediabetes or radiation exposure is not well established. The Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, bacterial vaginosis, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and Helicobacter pylori infection — though it appears possibly ineffective for atopic disease (allergic conditions).

How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Pectin from food and typical supplement amounts is generally well tolerated, though some people report mild digestive side effects like gas, diarrhea, loose stools, or mild cramping. Rare but serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, have been reported in people sensitive to pectin — one documented case involved a child with a history of oral allergy syndrome.
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. Uncommon gastrointestinal side effects (bloating, gas, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea) have been reported when probiotics are combined.
Because this product contains live organisms, there is theoretical concern about infection in severely immunocompromised patients, though documented cases are rare. For pregnancy, pectin is rated possibly safe at supplement doses, but concentrated supplements haven't been well studied — talk with your doctor.
For lactation, safety data on supplement amounts are limited — check with your healthcare provider. Lactobacillus acidophilus is rated possibly safe in pregnancy; no data are on file for lactation.

Suggested Usage: As a dietary supplement, adults take 1-2 capsules 2 to 4 times daily or as directed by your healthcare professional. Preferably taken with milk or whey.

Lactobacillus Acidophilus and Lactobacillus Bulgaricus Complex
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
Citrus Pectin
Digoxin (Lanoxin)
Theoretically, pectin might reduce the absorption of digoxin, potentially decreasing its effectiveness.
A small clinical study shows that taking digoxin with a kaolin-pectin suspension reduces the absorption of digoxin by about 62%. It is unclear if these effects are due to pectin, kaolin, or the combination.
Lovastatin (Mevacor)
Theoretically, pectin might reduce the absorption of lovastatin, potentially decreasing its effectiveness.
Case reports suggest that concomitant use of pectin and lovastatin might reduce the cholesterol-lowering effect of lovastatin, possibly due to reduced intestinal absorption of lovastatin.
Tetracycline Antibiotics
Theoretically, pectin might reduce the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics, potentially decreasing their effectiveness.
A small clinical study shows that taking tetracycline with bismuth subsalicylate in a kaolin-pectin suspension reduces the absorption of tetracycline by about 34%. It is unclear if these effects are due to pectin, kaolin, bismuth subsalicylate, or the combination.
