HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Daily Balance 20 Billion CFU by Renew Life
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Daily Balance contains 11 ingredients, most of them live probiotic bacteria intended to support gut health. The main strains are various Lactobacillus species (plantarum, acidophilus in two forms, casei in two forms, paracasei, and rhamnosus) and Bifidobacterium species (animalis lactis in two forms and breve).
You'll also find xylo-oligosaccharides, a type of prebiotic fiber that can feed the beneficial bacteria. The remaining ingredients are inactive — hypromellose, pectin, gellan gum, maltodextrin, rice, rice extract blend, and medium-chain triglycerides — which make up the capsule and help preserve the formula.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these probiotic strains is mixed. Lactobacillus acidophilus (in both forms included here) is rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis, but possibly ineffective for atopic disease.
For acute respiratory distress syndrome, the evidence is too limited to rate. Bifidobacterium breve, also in this product, shows possibly ineffective results for age-related cognitive decline and sepsis, while allergic rhinitis, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and atopic disease have insufficient evidence.
The evidence isn't established in our data for the other strains in this formula.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children, though you should check with your doctor before starting. Uncommon side effects from probiotics include stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, indigestion, gas, bloating, diarrhea, vomiting, and burping.
In rare cases, live probiotic organisms have been found in the bloodstream or other body sites — usually in people who are already very ill or have weakened immune systems; most experts think this happens when bacteria from the gut move to other parts of the body rather than from the supplement itself. Bifidobacterium breve is generally well tolerated but requires caution if you're very ill or immunocompromised.
Because safety data are limited, ask your healthcare provider before use, especially if you fall into a higher-risk category.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotic drugs, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product. Antibiotics can reduce how well the Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium breve strains in this supplement work.
Separating them by a few hours usually solves the problem, but your own provider can give you the best timing for your specific situation.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a multi-strain probiotic designed to support digestive health, with some evidence backing a few of the strains for specific uses like antibiotic-associated diarrhea or IBS. The main thing to watch is timing with any antibiotics you take — separate them by a few hours so the antibiotic doesn't wipe out the live cultures.
If you're very ill, immunocompromised, or on other medications, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.

Daily Balance 20 Billion CFU by Renew Life Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Daily Balance 20 Billion CFU by Renew Life contains several probiotic strains, two of which have documented interactions with medications.
The most serious concern is with antibiotic drugs — both Lactobacillus acidophilus (in two forms: LA-5 and DDS-1) and Bifidobacterium breve can lose effectiveness when taken at the same time as antibiotics. This is because antibiotics kill the live organisms in the probiotic, reducing how many beneficial bacteria actually reach your gut.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Although these interactions are rated Moderate in severity, they're manageable with timing. You'll want to separate when you take your antibiotic and this supplement — usually by a few hours.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
Several other ingredients in this product — Lactobacillus plantarum, L. casei 431, xylo-oligosaccharides, Lactobacillus casei UALc-03, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis UABla-12, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and Bifidobacterium animalis lactis BB-12 — we could not check for interactions because we don't hold data on them. That doesn't mean they're free of interactions; it just means they weren't in our database.
